I worked with a class at Sheffield College to paint some decorative mural boards for a charity called Causeway, which supports survivors of modern slavery and those caught in cycles of exploitation and crime.
I had provided the class with some resources, design elements from my own work and examples of other mural artists to draw inspiration from. They designed their own murals digitally before the session. On the day, I taught them techniques to scale up their designs and helped them transfer their murals onto the boards. We spoke about calming colour palettes, colour psychology and welcoming imagery.
The boards will be used at one of Causeways safe spaces to decorate their community rooms.
